History

Canolfan Peniarth was established in 2008 with the aim of becoming a major centre of production of Welsh medium and bilingual classroom materials. However our roots date back to 1822 and 1848 respectively, when the South Wales and Monmouthshire Training College was established in Carmarthen to train teachers for church schools in England and Wales.  Over the years, Trinity Saint David as it's known now has a long and successful history as a major centre of teacher training in Wales, which means unrivalled experience in teaching and learning resources, along with experience in providing training courses. By today, Canolfan Peniarth has developed to be one of the leading publishers in the primary and secondary sector in Wales and as a result of our unrivalled experience within the field of education and training, Canolfan Peniarth is fast developing a reputation as an authoritative mark of quality within education resources in Wales and beyond. Due to our ties with Dyslecsia Cymru - Dyslexia Wales we perpetually strive to create all of our resources to a standard that acknowledges additional learning needs.  Our team of expert authors and the central staff of artists, designers, technicians and language tutors create the perfect blend of world-class educational resources in terms of academic resources as well as being colourful, vibrant and user-friendly. In addition to being a centre for publishing educational resources, the centre now offers various specialist services.  We offer language training services in education, along with web design, interactive resources and information management systems services. Our relationship with other partners emphasises our continuous effort to collaborate with the most innovative institutions in the sector with regard to Welsh and bilingual education.
